Introduction

The Xillio Link Redirector is a tool to fix broken links during and after the migration of your content.

Before a migration

After the Xillio Professional Services team delivers a content migration, the client can end up with emails, documents or wikis linking the migrated documents. These links are now broken and unusable. This can cause irritations, but most importantly, cause issues with customer facing documents.

After a migration

The Xillio Link Redirector is software that can help fix these problems. It acts like a proxy server with extended functionality. The client routes all the traffic for the migrated Content Management System (CMS) through the Xillio Link Redirector. The Xillio Link Redirector then makes sure that the links still work.

Applying the Xillio Link Redirector

Technical Details​

The Xillio Link Redirector tool is built with Typescript running in the Node.js environment and Xillio is delivering it as an executable package for the OS of customers choice. There is no need to install any additional software on the target machine to start using the Xillio Link Redirector.

The Xillio Link Redirector serves several endpoints that can be used to configure rules and migrations. Any other traffic is considered traffic for the original CMS and the flow described above is applied.
